Today, I have to get up very early. Andrew and Erin plan to take the bus back from Wonder Lake at 8AM and since there are only two bike slots per bus the 6:30AM bus is my only option to get out of the wet before 4:30PM. It rained the whole night and in the morning. So everybody in the early bus is happy to be finally inside and warm. Just Klaus unfortunately has to stay outside strapped to the front of the bus. I hope he makes it back in good shape.

After the 1000 calories chocolate bar that was gifted to me on the campground yesterday as my breakfast I mostly try to sleep on the 5 hour (!) bus ride back to the entrance where I started cycling one and a half days earlier. Occasionally I wake up when the bus stops to watch moose or bears, otherwise the visibility is so bad, that there is not much to miss. Stop after stop the bus fills up with people completely wet from spending the night in the backcountry. At some point the bus is full and shivering cold hikers have to be left next to the road waiting for the next bus. I feel very sorry for them especially because the rain just turned into sleet and into snow up on the passes now...

Back at the park entrance I pack my things again and unfortunately notice a missing bolt and metal plate at my click-in pedals. It probably raddled of on the bus ride. Not a major issue but I can't click-on the right side now. I guess that's how Klaus is trying to tell me that we should have pedalled our butts back to the park entrance...

After picking up my food at Paul's store and a nice talk I make my way just 10 miles on the highway towards Sarah's place. I stay in a very nice little garden house (they call it cabin) next to hers and after a truly warm shower and warm food I go to bed early.
